Report on the ethics of investments of the Finnish retirement insurance companies:
Rahoja aseissa ja tupakassa. Eläkevakuutusyhtiöt ja eettinen sijoittaminen; by Eeva Simola, Jarmo Pykälä & Anni Mäkelä, published by FinnWatch ry & SaferGlobe Finland ry, Helsinki 2010, 20p.

This report is the first investigation conducted on Finnish retirement insurance companies' investments. The leading question of the report is: how ethically sound are the investments? The findings revealed that Finnish retirement insurance monies have been invested also in arms companies, nuclear weapons companies, cooperators of non-democratic governments, alcohol and tobacco companies, and gambling. Additionally, hundreds of millions have been invested in fonds located in tax havens.

Annual report on Finnish arms trade:
Suomen asevienti 2008, Pienasekauppa – globaalin turvallisuusongelman juurilla, by Jarmo Pykälä & Pamela Baarman (eds.), published by SaferGlobe Finland, Jyväskylä 2010, 32 p.

The report examines the Finnish arms trade licenses approved in the year 2008. Its purpose is to bring the destinations of Finnish arms exports to the media's, decision maker's, and civil society's attention. It shows possible discrepancies between the official Finnish foreign policy and arms trade licenced by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. On the one hand, arms exports have been allowed to countries which are party to a conflict. On the other hand, official Finnish foreign policy emphasizes human rights, development and peace building. The report's focus lies on small arms and light weapons. According to the findings, a grey list of Finnish arms exports was compiled. Exports on the list possibly violate against one or more of the EU Common Position on Arms Export's eight criteria.

The annual report on Finnish arms trade in the year 2008 is available only in the Finnish language, however, tables of the Finnish arms export's are partially in English. The publication is self-financed by SaferGlobe Finland with the support of:  Peace Union of Finland, Amnesty International's Finnish section and Committee of 100 in Finland. The publication has been supported with advertisements by  KATU - Civil Society Conflict Prevention Network and Changemaker (Finn Church Aid's youth movement).

The publication can be ordered at the office of SaferGlobe Finland for € 13,90. The price includes shipment to Finland, individual fees for other countries may apply. Please contact: toimisto(a)saferglobe.fi
